A few more candidates have thrown their hats into the ring as qualifying continues for Booneville’s municipal elections.
New candidates who have qualified since the last edition of the paper as of 5 p.m. Tuesday are: Gary Walker as a Republican for Ward 1 Alderman and Bill Stevenson as a Republican for Ward 3 Alderman.
Four of Booneville’s five current aldermen have announced they will not be seeking reelection to their current posts. Ward 1 Alderman Jason Michael, Ward 3 Alderman Mark McCoy, Ward 4 Alderman William Scott and Alderman-at-Large Lisa Stevens have all said they are not planning to run again for the seats they currently hold. Ward 2 Alderman Jeff Williams and Mayor Chris Lindley are seeking reelection.,

Mayor: Chris Lindley (Republican) (incumbent)
Alderman Ward 1: Tara Lauderdale (Republican), Chandler Starling (Republican), Gary Walker (Republican)
Alderman Ward 2: Jeff Williams (Democrat)
Alderman Ward 3: Bill Stevenson (Republican)
Alderman Ward 4: None
Alderman-at-Large: Harold Eaton (Republican)
Qualifying continues through 5 p.m. Friday, February 5. The first party primary election is scheduled for April 6, with a runoff (if necessary) set for April 27. The general election is June 8. New terms begin July 1.
