An inmate mistakenly released from the Prentiss County Jail last week is back in custody.

Sheriff Randy Tolar said Shaun Franklin Reed, 34, of Booneville, was arrested last Wednesday around 4 p.m. after being spotted walking along Highway 145 North, just north of Harris Skating Rink. Deputies, along with Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers, took Reed into custody without incident.

Reed was incorrectly released from the jail last Tuesday, January 5. The sheriff said at the time he had been given credit for time served on misdemeanor charges in circuit court and returned to the jail where he was released. He still had several felony charges pending and was not eligible for release.

Reed was recaptured in November at a Baldwyn residence after escaping from the jail through an unsecured door in the booking area.

He was originally arrested on November 10 for outstanding warrants in Alcorn County and felony drug charges in Prentiss County. He was charged with felony escape in November after his rearrest.
