A Prentiss County inmate is on the run for a second time after being mistakenly released from the county jail on Tuesday.

Shaun Franklin Reed, 34, of Booneville is being sought by the sheriff’s department.

Reed was incorrectly released from the jail after being given credit for time served in Justice Court earlier in the day.

“When he was returned to the jail from court he was mistakenly released,” said Sheriff Randy Tolar. “Reed had several felony charges pending.”

Reed was recaptured in November at a Baldwyn residence after escaping from the jail through an unsecured door in the booking area.

He was originally arrested on Nov. 10 for outstanding warrants in Alcorn County and felony drug charges in Prentiss County. He was charged with felony escape in November after his rearrest.

Reed has ties to Prentiss and Alcorn counties, said Tolar.

He is described as a white male, 6’3” tall, weighing 195 pounds. He was wearing a gray T-shirt and blue jeans when he left the jail.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-773-8477 or the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department at 662-728-6232.
