Booneville aldermen approved the hiring of a new city tax collector as they took action on a brief agenda in their final regular meeting of 2020 held Tuesday.

The board voted to hire Lindsey Hodges as tax collector to begin work immediately. Hodges has been serving as administrative assistant at city hall and the board also voted to begin seeking applications to fill the administrative assistant position.

Ward 3 Alderman Mark McCoy also noted Tuesday he wants to clarify that the city does have an animal control officer and will respond to animals roaming in the city if needed. He said he’s received calls from residents asking if the city still picked up animals and wants residents to know if they have a concern about an animal they can call the police department and animal control will respond.

In other business the board:

approved beer sales permits for all three Dollar General locations within the city limits.

accepted the resignation of Jackie Rowan as a full-time clerk in the gas and water department and approved hiring her back as a part-time clerk.

approved seeking applications to fill the position of full-time clerk in the gas and water department.
