A brief mid-month Booneville Board of Aldermen meeting saw action on several routine matters Tuesday evening including seeking annual supply bids and posting to fill positions in city departments.
The board accepted the resignations of Jesse Arnold and Derrick Hindo as full-time firefighters and approved them both to continue as part-time firefighters. Board members then voted to seek applications for two full-time firefighters with applications due by Jan. 31.
The board also accepted the resignation of Hannah Featherston from the gas and water office and voted to seek applications to hire a lead clerk in the office with applications due by Jan. 31.
Board members approved the installation of a new light pole and streetlight on Burress Street at the request of residents in the area.
The board also approved the first payment from the police department construction loan to Roberts Builders with Mayor Chris Lindley noting work is progressing well on the project transforming the former Fred’s Building into a new police department facility. He said demolition is complete inside the building and plumbing work is underway.
The board also voted to seek annual bids for city supplies including materials for paving, various forms of rock and gravel, fuel and vehicle oil change services.
The next regular meeting of the board is set for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at City Hall.
