Golden Bears To Host Tennis Tournament

Alcorn Central tennis will host the Crossroads High School Classic tennis tournament September 16-17 at Crossroads Regional Park in Corinth. The event is open to kids ages 13-18 and this tournament is not sponsored by the USTA.

Events will include boys singles and doubles along with girls singles and doubles. The last day to sign up is Tuesday, September 12 and each participant is guaranteed two games.

The cost is $20 for a single event or $30 for two. Call (662) 603-9383 to sign up up or ask any questions.

Whispering Pines Golf Tournament

Whispering Pines Golf Club of Kossuth will host a Member Guest Tournament on September 16 at the course located at 140 CR 617.

The 3-man/18-hole scramble will have a 7:45 a.m. sign-in time with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Lunch will be served upon tournament completion. The cost is $50 per person, or $40 if you bring your own cart, and mulligans are included in the cost.

There will be prizes for closest-to-the-pin and longest drive for a $1 fee. There will be multiple flights based on the number of teams that sign up with cash prizes for the top 3 teams in each flight.

Whispering Pines will also have a ‘joining special’ from September 16-December 31. The cost is $100 to join and $50 per month.

Tennis Tournament

The Adamsville High School tennis team will sponsor a non-sanctioned tennis tournament open to all ages from September 15-17 at Buford Pusser Memorial Park in Adamsville.

Shiloh Ridge To Host Outdoor Walking Club

The Shiloh Ridge Athletic Club will be hosting an ‘Outdoor Walking Club’ twice a week starting Monday, September 18 and lasting until winter weather doesn’t permit.

There is no cost to be a part of this health-wise activity. You just need to possess the desire to be healthy. The club will walk Monday’s starting September 18 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. It will also walk on Wednesday’s from 7:00-8:00 a.m. beginning September 20.

Firemen vs. Police Softball Game

Havis Kids’ will host a Firemen vs. Police Softball Challenge on the large baseball field in Crossroads Regional Park at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. There is free admission and donations are accepted. There will also be a silent auction.

Following the softball game, Havis Kids’ will host a Homerun Derby for kids in three divisions - eight and under; 10 and under; and 12 and under. Cost is $20 per child. Bring your own pitcher or one will be provided.

Kids will get 10 hits, fair or foul, and all top homerun hitters will advance to the second round.

Trophies will be given for first and second place in each division. Age is judged as of Sept. 23.

All proceeds help Havis Kids’ with a trip next fall to Walt Disney World.

ACHS Golf Tournament

The Alcorn Central High School Golf Tournament will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Hillandale Golf Course. The four-person scramble will be $50 per person or $200 per team. For more information conract Steve Bullard at 662-665-0958.

Putts For Pups

Shiloh Ridge Athletic Club will host a ‘Putt For Pups’ golf tournament Driday, October 27 beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Entry fee for the 3-man scramble event is $45 for nonmembers and $25 for members. There will be a $15 pot. The tournament will raise needed funds for the animal shelter and donations of all kinds are encouraged. The shelter is always in need of beds, food, soap, toys, cedar Chips, etc.

You can drop any donations off at the animal shelter on Farmington Road or at Shiloh Ridge on Shiloh Road.

The day of the tournament you can pay an additional $25, a portion of which will also go to the animal shelter, for a mulligan, a red tee hit and the chipping challenge with prizes awarded.

Win A Trip to Disney World!

You have another opportunity to help raise money for Havis’ Kids while possibly winning a trip to Disney yourself.

During this fundraiser you can purchase individual tickets for $25 or purchase 5 tickets for $100. The drawing will be held on May 6, 2018 and the winner must present the winning ticket to Havis Hurley in order to claim the trip. However, people do not have to present to win on this date.

Winning tickets must be used the week of October 7-13, 2018. The tickets are good for a family of four. There will be a 5-day premium park hopper or a 4-day premium park-hopper with one 2-park ticket to Universal. Tickets also include 6 nights at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort.
