•The UNA baseball department announces a pair of instructional camps coming up soon.

The first will be a Hitting Camp June 19 for grades 7-12. The following day, June 20, will be an Instructional Showcase Camp for grades 9-12.

Both camps will be from 9:00-3:00 am each day with walk-up registration beginning at 8:30. The cost for each camp is $110 or $130 with lunch included.

•Jimmy Newcomb recently hit a hole-in-one at Hillandale Golf Course. Hitting from the senior tees, Newcomb used a 6-iron on the 165-yard seventh hole to accomplish the feat.

Witnessing the ace was playing partner Jerry Camburn.

•The Shiloh Ridge Athletic Club will host a three-day ‘Kids Clinic’ Thursday-Saturday, July 20-22 from 8:00 am-2:00 pm each day.

The Clinic is open to kids ages 7-11 and you do not have to be a member at Shiloh Ridge to participate. Cost for the clinic is $175 for children of Shiloh Ridge members and $200 for non-members.

Golf and tennis will be the two sports highlighted for this clinic so each child will need specific equipment for each one. Needed items will be golf clubs/tennis rackets, appropriate sportswear and any additional gear, meds, or epipens.

For the golf sessions, at minimum, kids will need a putter, wedge, iron and driver. For tennis sessions the 7-8 year old group will need a 23-inch racquet while ages 9-11 will need a 25-inch racquet. A few additional racquets and golf clubs will be available as needed at check-in and it’s suggested each parent label their childs equipment.

•The Corinth Crossroads Regional Park will be hosting a new ‘Beginner Ladies Tennis League’ thru July 31. Games will be played on Monday evenings at 7 and there will be a long list of substitutes if you’re not able to play. Instructors will be on hand to help keep score. This league is designed for ladies who are new to the sport or haven’t played in several years.

The cost is $20 per player and tennis ball will be provided. If interested please email Becky Nelms at nemscta@gmail.com. You can also text at 630-710-4860 or message on face book to reserve your spot.

•Big Oaks Golf Course in Saltillo will host the first annual Havis’ Kids Golf Tournament fundraiser on Friday, June 23.

Registration will be from 8-9 AM the day of the event with a shot-gun start at 9. The cost is $400 per team and will be a 4-person scramble. There will be prize money, food and drinks.

Havis’ Kids is a non-profit organization started in 2011 to raise money for local families with special needs children in north Mississippi to take them to Disney World. Parents volunteer to provide these children with a great Disney vacation.

•Corinth junior golfers ages 11-18 are invited to compete in the AJGT Bayou Oaks at City Park in New Orleans June 27-28. Th two-day, 36-hole tournament is ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and hosted by the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour.

The entry fee is $230 which includes two days of green fees, tee gifts and trophies in four age divisions.
