GLEN -- A pair of juniors gave Alcorn Central's seniors rare bragging rights Friday night.

Junior running backs Saylor Gray and Ethan Carmichael ran for a combined 164 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Golden Bears to a 42-8 victory over the Biggersville Lions.

Gray tallied 102 yards and two scores while Carmichael rushed for 62 and a pair of touchdowns.

Alcorn Central captured its fourth straight victory over Biggersville on Friday for just the third time in the history of the series.

"Saylor Gray and Ethan Carmichael both had great nights," said Alcorn Central head coach Jeff Boren. "Trey White and Taylor Johnson worked hard on the offensive line and fullback Heath Johnson blew everything up all night as the lead blocker."

Alcorn Central jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to Skylar Sanders and Jack Awwad.

Sanders returned a Lion fumble 45 yards for the open score of the game and Awwad ran in a 7-yard quarterback keeper to give the Bears a 12-0 advantage. Leon Cammann connected on his first extra point of the night to make it 13-0.

Carmichael and Gray took over the middle periods of the contest tallying all four of their scores and giving the Bears a 42-0 lead by the end the third.

Gray carried the load for the Bears to begin the second quarter when the junior running back totaled 75 yards on 10 straight running plays culminating in a 6-yard touchdown on third and goal.

Biggersville handed the Bears a three score advantage when the Lions were called for a safety on their first drive of the second half.

Carmichael accounted for the next two scores tallying from 18 yards out, shortly after the safety.

The junior made short work of a fumble on a Biggersville fake punt following a 50-yard gain by Bradley Davis who rushed for 192 yards on the night.

Carmichael returned the loose pigskin 74 yards to the Lion 1 and punched in for the touchdown, one play later.

Gray put the Bears up 42-0 with three consecutive 7-yard runs culminating in a touchdown near the end of the quarter as Cammann connected on another extra point.

Biggersville broke the shutout as Tyran Davis connected to Bradley Davis on a 34-yard pass and B. Davis punched in the two-point conversion for the Lions.

Boren and the Bears continued the ground attack as freshman running back Corey Wood moved Alcorn Central all the way to the 9-yard line with four carries for 28 yards before time expired.

"Corey Wood is only a freshman and moved the ball very well at the end of the game," Boren said. "He's going to be a {good} football player."
