Local seniors will have the opportunity to mingle as they participate in Senior Citizen’s Day at the Mississippi State University Extension Service.

The event sponsored by Alliance Hospice will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30.

“It’s a day to celebrate the senior citizens of Corinth and Alcorn County," said Alliance Hospice Volunteer Coordinator Sabrina Hall. “We invite all our seniors to join in on the fun.”

Corinth Mayor Tommy Irwin will welcome everyone and introduce Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley, who will serve as the guest speaker.

Presley will make seniors aware of the scams currently circulating in the area, many of which target and pray upon the elderly.

Singers Kay Bain and Shelby Pratt will entertain those in attendance.

In addition to lunch being provided, door prizes will also be awarded.

“We will have local vendors from hospices, medical supply companies, assisted livings and nursing homes participate in our Senior Citizens Day,” said Hall. “All vendors are welcome to set up.”

The gathering will fall on the same day the Homemakers Club will hold their International Luncheon in the kitchen.
