IUKA – ATK’s Aerospace Structures will soon be adding more jobs at their Iuka facility.

Last month, ATK was awarded an $178 million contract as part of the Air Force's Phase 1 work on the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle, a launch system used by the United States government for sending U.S. military satellites into space.

The contract consists of a variety of composite structures set to be fabricated at the Iuka facility.

“The new contract will definitely add more jobs in Tishomingo County, but we are still unclear at this time just how many,” said Tishomingo County Development Foundation Executive Director Gary Mathews. “I know they have already started hiring some preliminary people for the project, but not many.”

Mathews is excited ATK was able to secure the contract.

“This is great for the area,” added Mathews. “Additional jobs and more private investment in the community is wonderful.”

The more than 320,000 square foot manufacturing facility near Pickwick Lake currently employs around 100 people.

ATK is an aerospace, defense, and commercial products company with operations in 22 states, Puerto Rico, and internationally. Iuka is home to one of two ATK facilities in the state.
