IUKA -- Kossuth punched it in on fourth-and-2 on a Weston Bobo keeper, but wasn’t able to convert the 2-point conversion that would have sent Friday night’s game at Tishomingo County into a second extra session.

Kossuth saw its record drop to 1-2 following the 35-33 overtime setback.

Tishomingo County got the ball first in overtime at went up 33-27 on a pass from Blake Hawkins to Brannon Gamble. Hawkins connected with Jake Moore on the two-point conversion, leaving Kossuth in a 35-27 hole.

In the opening half it was almost a stalemate as both teams traded the ball out on punts until the Aggies scored the lone touchdown of the first quarter on a quarterback keeper from Weston Bobo from the 4 yard line at the 4:05 mark.

As the second quarter was closing Tishomingo Jr. Quarterback, Blake Hawkins broke off a huge run from his own 9, getting all the way to the Kossuth 31. On the next play he tossed a pass to Tanner McAnally for the score with .6 seconds left. After the extra point the score was tied at 7 as the buzzer went off for the half.

In the opening possession of the 3rd, the Aggies moved the ball down the field from their own 34 yard line, scoring on 1st and 10 on a 42 yard run from Blaine Mitchell, putting the score at 14-7 with 9:46 left. Then after forcing the Braves to punt from the Aggie 48, Kossuth's Jacob Meeks punched it in from the 2 with 4:26 left in the 3rd, leaving the score at 21-7 before giving the ball back to the opposition on their own 38 yard line. The Braves moved the ball patiently down the field and on 2 & 5 from the Kossuth 18, Jr. running back, T.J. Lambert broke off a 15 yard gallop getting the Braves all the way to the opponents' 3 yard line. Two plays later after a one yard loss and no gain, Lambert punched it in from the 4 leaving the score at 13-21 at the 1:59 mark in the 3rd after a blocked extra point from the Aggies.

The final quarter started with Kossuth still leading as the score sat at 21-13. After a turnover on downs for the Tishomingo Braves in their opening possession of the 4th, the Aggies were yet in control again as they took the ball from their own 30 yard line and got into the end zone once again with 8:30 left, on a 2 & 5 40 yard pass from Bobo to Matthew Stewart leaving the score at 27-13 after the extra point bounced off the right goal post.

As the Braves took over from their own 45 and got to the Kossuth 21 off the legs of Hawkins, the Jr. quarterback rocketed a pass to Brannon Gamble for the score. After a successful 2 point conversion the Braves found themselves only down by 6, as the score was 27-21 with 7:17 remaining in regulation.

After trading the ball back and forth once again, Tishomingo County took over from their own 14 (and with the help of a 15 yard face mask penalty that kept the drive alive) got the pigskin all the way to the Aggie 19 and scored on a toss from Hawkins to Gamble with only 28 seconds left in regulation. After a Braves botched extra point attempt, the game headed to overtime tied 27-27.
