Members of the Corinth Kiwanis are organizing the Second Annual Father/Daughter Valentine Ball — a special evening for dads, grandfathers and father-figures to bring their daughters to the ball for a night of food, dancing and more.

“The Kiwanis Club of Corinth is excited about bringing this opportunity to the area again this year,” said event organizer Ken Weeden. “Last year’s event was a huge success according to the feedback we keep receiving from fathers, father-figures and moms.”

The Valentine Ball is a Kiwanis fundraiser to raise money for the club’s efforts to help local children. With theValentines Ball, the Kiwanis wanted to create an event that would provide an opportunity for the little girls and fathers in the community to build better relationships.

“Opportunities like that are few and far between,” Weeden pointed out.

Weeden said the Kiwanis are going all out this year to make the event even better. Because of the enthusiastic reception last year’s inaugural event received, organizers have decided to move the Valentine Ball to a new venue to accommodate the growing demand.

The 2013 Valentine Ball will be held at the Crossroads Arena. Due to the additional space this year, the event will be open to fathers and daughters from surrounding areas.

The event will include dancing, beauty makeover stations, a “Make a Cupcake for Dad Station,” photo opportunities and more. T-shirts and carriage/limousine rides will be available for purchase.

“Kiwanis is looking forward to seeing the smiles that will be generated, and we are glad to raise money in this way to aid children,” said Weeden.

This year’s profits from the event are being earmarked to help support the Excel by 5 program, an initiative to educate communities about the cognizant development of their young children.

Dress is church dress to formal wear. Cost of attendance is $35 for the first couple and $10 for each additional daughter. Reserved sponsor tables are available. Applications are available at the Alliance, Ken Weeden Law Firm and online at

The Father/Daughter Valentine Ball will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
