Drewry sisters place high at rodeo nationals

Local sisters Megan (left) and Morgan Drewry traveled to Guthrie, Okla., last week for the National Little Britches Rodeo finals at Lazy E Ranch. It was the first effort on the national level for the Kossuth students, and they represented Mississippi and Alcorn County admirably. Morgan finished 10th in the pole bending event out of 156 riders, while Megan finished 28th in barrel racing out of 187 riders.. "We really didn't know what to expect, but let's just say we have never experienced a rodeo quite like it," said the girls' dad Barry Drewry. "When you have 1,200 contestants and over 1,800 horses at one location, it's overwhelming."
