Kossuth, Alcorn Central play 2nd round games tonight

Kossuth's Faith Williamson (10, left photo) and the Lady Aggies will host Ruleville Central tonight at KHS gym while Alcorn Central's Rebekah Fields (33) and the Lady Bears will travel to Nettleton to face the Lady Tigers in 2nd round North Half playoff contests. If both local squads are victorious this evening they will face each other again next Monday at Kossuth for the right to go to the state tournament semifinals in Jackson on March 6. A Kossuth/Alcorn Central rematch would be the fifth meeting between the two this season.

Tigers can win 'North' title at home

The Tigers can win the North division title with a home win tonight against East Mississippi. It's the regular season finale for Northeast before the playoffs begin next week. The Lady Tigers can take second in the North with a win tonight.

Lions fend off young and pesky Eagles to advance

Biggersville senior Quonn Crump-Mayes (right) drives the lane against Falkner's Daylen Crum during the Lions' hard-fought 65-56 win over the Eagles in a first-round North Mississippi boys' playoff contest at Biggersville High School Tuesday night. Falkner's Chauncey Jackson led all scorers with 24 points, while Hunter Stacy paced Biggersville with 23. Four BHS players finished in double figures. Biggersville will next host Ray Brooks, a 69-54 winner over Tremont on Tuesday, in a second-round contest at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Kossuth rolls by Holly Springs, host Ruleville Central Friday

Kossuth senior Morgan Hodum (22) drives the lane for two of her game-high 25 points Monday night as the Lady Aggies defeated Holly Springs 75-41 to advance to the 2nd round of the girls North Half state playoffs. Four Kossuth players were in double figures and the KHS defense did another good job against a determined Lady Hawks squad. Kossuth will host Ruleville Central Friday at 7:00pm.
