A trip to Las Vegas resulted in a Corinth man being returned to Mississippi to face charges of forgery.

Roger D. Prather, 33, of 1208 Childs Street, was arrested at a Las Vegas hotel on Feb. 12 and extradited to Corinth on Friday. He has been charged with two counts of uttering a forgery and is being held without bond because he was free on bond at the time of the crimes, according to Detective Captain Ralph Dance.

He said the suspect went to a supermarket and cashed two computer-generated checks on a fictitious bank — one on Jan. 6 for $489.76 and one on Jan. 7 for $512.44. Corinth police began to look for the suspect and entered his information in the National Crime Information Center database.

The Las Vegas Police Department learned that the suspect had checked into a hotel in the city and arrested him there, said Dance.

A second suspect is also being sought in the case, he said. The second suspect also cashed two of the same checks and was also in Las Vegas but has not been located.
