A County Road 750 bridge is set to close again this week as construction begins on replacement of the structure.

The closure is set to begin Thursday morning on the Gift Road bridge.

First District Supervisor Lowell Hinton is excited to see the project finally getting off the ground after having the bridge ordered closed a couple of times.

While the closure will be an inconvenience, "A new bridge will be worth the wait," said Hinton. "It's going to be a really nice bridge."

The county recently awarded the job to Phillips Contracting Co. of Columbus at a cost of $1,940,257.20. It is one of the projects being funded through the state's new Emergency Road and Bridge Repair Fund.

The project includes 0.27 miles of bridge and approaches to replace bridge #15 and replace pipes with two box culverts on each end.

The contract allows 270 calendar days for completion of the job.

It is a heavily traveled route with a substantial amount of school traffic.

The bridge was temporarily fixed after the 2010 flood and again after flooding earlier this year.
