Havis' Kids volunteers are hard at work on the organization's two largest fundraisers to help send special needs kids and their families to Disney World next year.

Chances are now being sold on a free Disney World vacation for a family of four which includes Five-Day Premium Park Hopper tickets and six nights lodging at All-Star Sports Resort inside Disney World.

A $20 chance on the vacation valued at $3,000 is one of the largest fundraisers for Havis' Kids, noted Havis Hurley, Havis' Kids founder.

"This is a really good deal for one lucky family," noted Hurley, as each Havis' Kids volunteer is required to sell 30 tickets. "This is one of our best fundraisers."

The lucky winning family must make the trip with Havis' Kids on Oct. 4-9, 2020 and the package does not include food and transportation. The drawing will be held June 7, 2020. People who purchased a ticket do not need to be present to win.

Tickets can be purchased from any Havis' Kids volunteer.

The annual Rooster Run this year has named Havis' Kids as its benefactor and volunteers are collecting items for raffles.

This year's event will be held Saturday, June 15, and will include a 5K run, food, family fun and political speakings. Thanks to Rooster Run Founder Sandy Childs-Jones, event volunteers and Havis' Kids volunteers, the event is the largest single fundraiser for Havis' Kids.

"This year being a general election year, the Rooster Run is going to be a big deal," noted Hurley.

Havis' Kids volunteers help stage the event, including setup and cleanup.

Fresh from a new set of guidelines and mission statement, Havis' Kids non-profit organization has officially launched an effort to send a group of special needs kids to Walt Disney World on Oct. 3-10, 2020.

This will be Havis' Kids fifth trip with special needs children to Disney World after trips in 2018, 2016, 2014 and 2012. Twenty-nine Havis' Kids made the trip last year.

Hurley has been to Disney World 56 times during his lifetime with youth groups.

How to help

McAlister's Deli has agreed to continue to host Havis' Kids Night each month. Volunteers help deliver orders and clean tables and in exchange get all tips and 10 percent of the proceeds for the evening.

The next McAlister's Havis' Kids night is from 5-9 on Saturday, April 20. Another will be held this month on Thursday, April 25.

Havis' Kids will be selling tickets to the Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast from 7-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4 at Waldron Street Christian Church. The group will get to keep proceeds from each $5 ticket sold.
