A Corinth woman was charged after contraband was discovered in a restroom at the county jail.

Geraldine Price, 61, was arrested on Thursday and charged with introducing contraband into a correctional facility. Bond was pending on Friday.

Sheriff Ben Caldwell said correctional officers on Monday discovered that someone had attempted to hide contraband in the women's restroom in the lobby of the county jail. An investigation by the jail staff and Narcotics Investigator Lucas Wooten identified Price as the person who brought approximately 24 grams of marijuana, one pound of tobacco and several items of paraphernalia into the restroom.

A warrant was issued after the investigation pointed to Price.

In a separate case, an Alcorn County man was charged with a drug offense following a traffic stop.

Scotty Lee Griffith, 47, of Rienzi, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Caldwell said the arrest followed a traffic stop on Highway 45 near County road 405 when Griffith was found to be in possession of 0.6 grams of alleged methamphetamine.

Bond was set at $7,500 and he remained in custody as of Friday morning.
