Tishomingo County woman dies in house fire

TISHOMINGO — A house fire in the Bethlehem Church community resulted in the death of a Tishomingo woman.

Tishomingo County Coroner Mack Wilemon identified Linda Kay Taylor, 58, as the victim who died in the Tuesday evening blaze.

The fire occurred around 5:30 p.m. when Tishomingo County 911 got the call, which was made by one of the home's other occupants.

"When we got the call, he did state that someone was still inside the house," said Tishomingo County 911 Director/Fire Coordinator Rickey Cummings.

Four fire departments arrived on the scene to battle the blaze, including Tishomingo, Midway, Paden and Carters Branch.

The coordinator said the house was fully involved with fire and smoke when fire fighters arrived on the scene. He confirmed the house had three occupants and a husband and wife were able to escape.

Firefighters attacked the fire and pushed it back out of the room where the occupants of the home reported she was located, but Taylor did not survive.

The Tishomingo Fire Investigator, Tishomingo County Coroner and the Tishomingo County Sheriff's Office were called to the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
