A furry little representative of the Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter recently stopped by the Daily Corinthian.

On behalf of the shelter, Stuwart the dog came by to encourage people to take part in the shelter's gift basket raffle because time is almost up.

The shelter is hosting a raffle for a gift basket that is packed full of goodies — over $1,500 worth of merchandise.

Items within the gift basket includes gift cards and gifts from Gardner's Supermarket, Pizza Grocery, Austin Shoes, SoCo Grind, Kates & Co., Belk and even hard-carved bowls by artist Ray Morton, just to name a few of the items.

Tickets for the raffle are $5 each and they will continue to be sold until Friday morning. The drawing will take place that day and the winner will receive a text or a call as notification.

All proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go to benefit the Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter.

"We chose this time to have the raffle because we want a lucky winner to get it before Christmas," said Kayo McPeters, President, Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter Board of Directors. "A $100 gift card from Gardner's wold be useful for last minute shopping. It's a lot of fun and I hope everybody will contribute."

Founded in 2011 and funded by private donations, the City of Corinth, the City of Farmington and the Alcorn County Board of Supervisors, the shelter is managed by community leaders, volunteers and a dedicated staff.

The shelter is located at 3825 Proper Street, in Corinth, and it's open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Intakes must be schedule. Call to schedule an intake at 662-284-5800.

(To purchase raffle tickets, contact Kayo McPeters at 662-660-2076 or come by the Daily Corinthian, 1607 S. Harper Road, Corinth, during regular business hours, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
