KOSSUTH "" "It's like a scene from a Hallmark Christmas movie.""

That's how Jan Haley describes the Kossuth Christmas Parade and Jingle Bell Bazaar, an indoor arts and crafts market. Both events will happen Saturday in downtown Kossuth.

"The bazaar is a fun shopping event for all ages. I absolutely love this event," said Haley, who began hosting the gift-buying event in 2013. "It is a very personal event for me. It gives me purpose to give back to the community we all love."

The sixth annual bazaar will happen rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the LC Follin Christian Life Center (blue building).

"We have lots of new vendors and some of our faithful return vendors "" the items are endless and include wooden decor, wooden hand turned items, pottery, jewelry, home decor, T-shirts, food, candies and cookies," added Haley.

She said the best part of the event is all proceeds from vendor fees and lunch items sold will benefit the F.U.E.L. program.

As Kossuth United Methodist Church's children's program, F.U.E.L ministers children after school by providing Kossuth students with food, fun and fellowship.

Lunch will include homemade pinto beans and cornbread with all the fixings. Homemade desserts will also be available and made fresh by Kossuth United Methodist Church members.

Santa Claus is also scheduled to stop by the bazaar, before heading to the Kossuth Christmas Parade at 4 p.m.

Parade organizer Sandy Mitchell said entries are still being accepted.

The parade route will begin at the arch near the L.C. Follin Christian Life Center and go around Kossuth Elementary School on Country Road 604. Entries will turn left past Kossuth Middle School onto County Road 669 and follow the road before turning left onto County Road 618. The parade will disband prior to Highway 2.

While rain could dampen the parade, Mitchell said an official decision would be made Friday afternoon. Otherwise parade entries should begin lining up at 3:30 p.m.

Following the parade, the town will host a chicken and chitlin dinner and hold the town Christmas tree-lighting.
