Shooting will go to grand jury

A shooting Saturday in Alcorn County will go to the grand jury to determine if charges will be filed.

Sheriff Ben Caldwell said a woman was shot in the leg with a shotgun during an apparent altercation at a residence on County Road 210. The shooter was allegedly the resident at the home.

The wounded woman, who did not live at the location, drove herself to a residence on Louisiana Street in Corinth. She was transported from that residence by ambulance to Magnolia Regional Health Center.

Caldwell said the case remains under investigation and no charges are being filed at this time. It will be presented to the next county grand jury.
