One thing Corinth residents know how to do is wave.

That's why Main Street Corinth and Visit Corinth are teaming up for a new promotion called WOW or "Wave on Wednesday."

It's a simple idea, said Main Street Director Angela Avent.

"It has always been a common fact in Corinth "" folks in this town wave at others, no matter what," she said. "Now we are asking folks to just keep doing exactly what they have always done."

The Wednesday promotion encourages Corinthians to snap a photo or video while waving, post to social media using hashtag #WaveOnWednesday and #EnjoyCorinth.

"We will be giving T-shirts away to those who post and use the correct tags," added Avent.

The idea came from a Main Street board member who recalled a High Five Friday promotion Tupelo hosted a few years ago. For Corinth, the decision was made to focus on locals who wave, because of so much feedback received from visitors.

"Visitors to Corinth always talk about how nice our residents are," said CVB Director Christy Burns. "People can't believe how Corinthians wave at everyone. It's something special we do "" that sets Corinth apart, and it's great it will now be highlighted through this promotion."

Avent hopes the promotion helps more locals catch the waving fever.

"That's how WOW was born," said the Main Street director. "Visitors are already wowed by Corinth and by the friendliness of this area. We believe a promotion that encourages more waving will only help visitors feel even more welcome when they visit Corinth."
