Alcorn supervisors make some board appointments

The Alcorn County Board of Supervisors made a number of appointments to boards of directors in a light session on Monday.

Supervisors voted to reappoint Danny Timmons to a seat on the Corinth Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors for another four years. It is a restaurant seat and is jointly appointed with the Corinth Board of Aldermen.

For The Alliance Board of Directors, Board President Jimmy Tate Waldon named Hank Barrett, a retired Kimberly-Clark employee, to the president's slot on the board. Danny Turner, who was previously the president's appointee, was shifted to a seat vacated by Scott Lemons.

The board reappointed Robert Wolfe and Michael McCalla to seats on The Alliance board.

Supervisors reappointed Milton Davis to a seat on the Alcorn County Human Resource Agency Board of Directors and reappointed Danny Joe Turner to a seat on the Yellow Creek State Inland Port Board of Directors.

In other business:

• The board accepted Road 212 as a county road.

• The county engineer reported paving continues on several State Aid projects with surfacing in progress on County Road 400 and Holly Church Road on Monday.

• The board approved employee pay raises as requested for 911, the tax assessor's office and a couple of the county districts.
