October means beautiful fall colors in Tishomingo State Park in one of its most visited months of the year.

This October will have an added twist with a "celebracion de hispano por amigos de el parque."

Sound exciting?

There will be "comida vendedores, letras y artesania, juegos y musicos."

For those missing the hidden clues, Tishomingo State Park's Friends of the Park will be hosting a Celebration of Hispanic Culture, Food and Music from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the following Saturday on Oct. 20.

It's a free event featuring food vendors, arts and crafts, kids' games and hispanic musicians. So far the food vendors signed up include Hispanic, Latino and American choices, plus barbecue.

Participants and encouraged to being lawn chairs. Although the event is free, the park entry fee of $4 per vehicle still applies, plus 50 cents per person over six people per vehicle.

The park's Nature Center will be open that day.

Giant bubbles and face painting are some of the planned activities for children.

The park is known for its swinging bridge, 13 miles of nature trails, Bear Creek scenic stream, Haynes Lake, Pioneer cabin, three 18-hole disc golf trails, campground, seven cabins, historic group lodge and three picnic pavilions.
