Ambulance crashes while responding to call

An ambulance was involved in a crash while responding to a call just after 1 p.m. Friday.

The wreck occurred at the intersection of Fulton Drive and U.S. Highway 72 when a Nissan Maxima collided with an ambulance.

Initial information provided by Corinth Police Officer Matt Wood said the ambulance was traveling South on Fulton Street when the Nissan, which was traveling West on U.S. Highway 72, crashed into it.

Magnolia Emergency Services Director Mike Lutz confirmed the ambulance was responding as a backup to a wreck which occurred on Harper Road only moments before. He said the ambulance driver had the green light at the time and none of the paramedics in the emergency vehicle were injured.

Occupants of the Nissan suffered minor injuries, said Wood.

The initial wreck to which the ambulance was responding occurred between 12:30 and 1 p.m. on South Harper Road, near the sewer treatment plant.

Wood said it appears that a white pickup truck had pulled out onto South Harper Road in front of another vehicle. Two people in the vehicle that hit the truck suffered minor injuries.

No additional information was available at press time.
