Second man charged with violating sex offender rules

The Corinth Police Department charged another man with a sex offender registry offense as a result of investigation of his whereabouts.

Mickey Milam, 51, was arrested on Friday and charged with failure to comply with the sex offender registry act. Bond was set at $100,000.

Detective Jerry Rogers said he noted Milam's homeless status as he reviewed the list of known sex offenders residing in Alcorn County. After tracking the man down, Rogers determined Milam was living at 1218 Washington Street, which is 779 feet from the preschool of First Baptist Church on Main Street. The proximity constitutes a violation of the sex offender registry.

His sex offender I.D. card gave an address on Levee Road.

Timothy Hayslett, 42, who was determined to be staying at an apartment at 818 East Shiloh Road, was also released from prison with "homeless" status, Rogers said. Both were on probation and Hayslett was wearing a monitoring bracelet.

The apartment where Hayslett was staying is within 3,000 feet of Corinth Middle School. As previously reported, he was arrested on Monday after someone reported seeing him performing indecent acts outside the apartment complex.

Milam was convicted of endangering the welfare of a child in Jefferson County, Missouri, in 2003, and Hayslett was convicted of attempted rape of a child in 1993 in Shelby County, Tennessee, according to Rogers.
