Third arrest made in murder case

Corinth police on Tuesday arrested a third person in the robbery and shooting death of George Earl Harris.

Shakoa Walker, 21, of Proper Street, Corinth, was charged with capital murder. Arraignment is pending.

Capt. Dell Green said Walker knew police were looking for him and voluntarily came to the police department on Tuesday. Walker was implicated by the two arrested last week — Shaquavia Gunn and Darius Deen — and was identified with Gunn and Deen in video surveillance footage at an event after the shooting, he said.

Further arrests are not anticipated.

In an arraignment in Corinth Municipal Court on Sunday, bond was denied for Gunn, 18, of Proper Street, and Deen, 20, no address available. Both are charged with capital murder.

Of the three suspects, it appears Gunn was acquainted with Harris more so than the other two suspects, said Green.

Harris, who operated a lawn service and home repair business called Your Way, was shot to death on the evening of Sunday, May 20, at his home at 2014 Liddon Lake Road. He was shot in the back of the head. The suspects allegedly took cash, the victim's wallet and cell phone, and a DVR from the home.

Harris was found the next morning by police after employees of Harris became concerned.

Gunn was arrested Thursday on Cardinal Drive, and Deen was arrested at a Booneville hotel room Friday afternoon by U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement. A gun recovered at the time is believed to be the possible murder weapon.

Funeral services for the 57-year-old victim will be held Sunday in Vicksburg.
