The Friday afternoon rush hour traffic through Corinth turned to tragedy after a horrific three-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. 72 East and Kimberly-Clark Parkway.

Officials at the scene believed two accident victims to be in critical condition after two pickup trucks and an 18-wheeler loaded with sand somehow collided a bit before 4 p.m.

The crash destroyed both pickups and left the larger truck overturned.

Multiple law enforcement and emergency services responded to the

accident scene to help clean up and control traffic.

Traffic on U.S. 72 was backed up for miles each way, and traffic was diverted off of the parkway ahead of the highway intersection.

The Corinth Police Department will release more information to the Daily

Corinthian as it becomes available. See the print edition for additional photos.
