The Crossroads Arena Board of Directors is utilizing existing staff for management of the facility and making no immediate move to begin a search for a new general manager.
Financial Director Felicia Windham has been serving as interim general manager following the early August exit of former manager Reggie Churchwell.
"We're not in any big hurry" to begin the search for a new general manager, said Bill Strickland, arena board chairman. "We think we're in good hands with the people we have. They have stepped up and are doing an outstanding job and we're very grateful for their added effort. We don't think we're letting anything fall through the cracks at this point."
Cindy Davis is box office manager and Greg Moss is grounds and buildings manager.
Strickland noted that Windham has been with the facility, which is nearing its 10th anniversary, since almost day one.
"She has worked in show settlements and putting shows together and all phases of running the building from concessions to keeping the building presentable," he said.
The board is also awaiting completion of an audit and revising the arena manager job description before opening the search for a new manager. Another factor is that the winter season schedule for the arena is largely in place, said Strickland.
The board is also working on public relations, which was cited as a factor in the exit of Churchwell.
"We're trying to mend a few fences with some of the previous customers," said Strickland.
The facility has secured a couple of event bookings in the last few weeks, including a spring rodeo that is returning to the arena and a "tuffman and tuffwoman" boxing event for late October. Strickland said the recent cattle show was a big success and one that the arena will look to expand in the future.
